“a 400ha sculptural park of international renown”  NZ Herald

“one of the world’s great private sculpture parks”  Wandermelon

“the world’s ultimate meeting place of giant sculptures and rolling farmland.”  Atlas Obscura

In 1991, entrepreneur and art collector Alan Gibbs purchased a parcel of land backing on to the Kaipara Harbour near Kaukapapa that has come to be known as Gibbs Farm. He then set about curating one of the world’s great private art collections. It is the largest collection of outdoor sculptures in New Zealand.

Now, after twenty-nine years and hundreds of thousands of hours of labour carefully crafting the land to be the ultimate backdrop for the world’s leading artists, Gibbs Farm showcases major sculptures by Graham Bennett, Chris Booth, Daniel Buren, Bill Culbert, Neil Dawson, Marijke de Goey, Andy Goldsworthy, Ralph Hotere, Anish Kapoor, Sol LeWitt, Len Lye, Russell Moses, Peter Nicholls, Eric Orr, Tony Oursler, George Rickey, Peter Roche, Richard Serra, Kenneth Snelson, Richard Thompson, Leon van den Eijkel, Zhan Wang and Maya Lin.

New artworks are added periodically: each viewing delivers a new and unique experience.

Many of the artworks were specifically commissioned for the Farm and accordingly incorporate the dramatic landscape into the pieces. The farm is also home to numerous exotic animal species, including Bison, Emus and Giraffes.

Opportunities for the public to view Gibbs Farm are strictly limited. On Friday 20 November 2020, MusicHelps would like to offer you an exclusive chance to tour and enjoy incredible art in a truly unique landscape for yourself.

Coach transport from the Auckland CBD, as well as lunchboxes for pickup at the Farm (5 items in each lunchbox with a larger main, 2 great snacks, a sweet treat and a piece of fruit, with vegetarian, vegan and dairy-free options), are available for purchase alongside your open day ticket.
